Biography

Hi, my name is David McDougal and I am a Software Engineer/UX Designer who is driven by creating awesome, beautiful, and customer focused software solutions. With over 3 years of experience in the field I am driven to finding new ways to solve user problems and bring those solutions to life.

Software Engineering and UX Design is more than just finding the quickest solution or creating a new piece of code. It's about creating and leading a user on a journey to their final destination. The better the code and the design, the better the user's journey.

No matter what software product I am working on, I am always deeply committed to the task at hand to make sure it centers around the end user. My commitment and attention to detail are central to the work I do. I look forward to using my skills to help you create the ultimate user experience.

  • Software Engineer @Byte

    2021-Present | Lehi, UT

    I worked on Byte's Growth Team focusing on developing and improving their marketing site using Agile methodologies within Jira. I was tasked with creating new components and page redesigns in Next.js and Shopify. I focused primarily on converting Byte's Marketing pages and components from Liquid into React (using Next.js, Typescript, and SCSS) for use in a headless content management system (Contentful).

    My responsibilities primarily focused on working closely with one of our largest clients, Manly Bands, to improve their Shopify store and improve the conversion rate of customers visiting their site. Through the work I did I was able to help them take the site speed from 68 to 90. And improved customer conversion.
